Embark on a 3-day journey from Marrakech to the stunning dunes of Merzouga. This tour offers an unforgettable adventure through the High Atlas Mountains, ancient kasbahs, and the captivating Sahara Desert. Experience traditional Berber culture, ride camels at sunset, and spend a magical night under the stars in a desert camp.

Day 1: Marrakech to Dades Valley via Ait Ben Haddou & Ouarzazate

Your adventure begins with an early morning departure from Marrakech, traveling through the scenic Tizi n’Tichka pass in the High Atlas Mountains. Along the way, enjoy panoramic views of lush valleys, picturesque Berber villages, and snow-capped peaks. Your first stop is the UNESCO World Heritage site of Ait Ben Haddou, a fortified village famous for its stunning earthen architecture and as a backdrop for numerous films like Gladiator and Lawrence of Arabia.

After exploring the ancient ksar, continue to Ouarzazate, known as the “Hollywood of Africa.” Visit the iconic Taourirt Kasbah before heading to the Dades Valley. As you drive through the Valley of Roses, marvel at the dramatic rock formations and lush oases. You’ll spend the night in a charming hotel or traditional guesthouse in the Dades Valley, with dinner included.

Day 2: Dades Valley to Merzouga via Todra Gorge

After breakfast, your journey continues towards the Sahara Desert. The route takes you through the impressive Todra Gorge, a series of limestone canyons with cliffs that soar over 300 meters high. Enjoy a leisurely walk along the riverbed, taking in the towering rock walls and tranquil surroundings.

In the afternoon, arrive in the desert town of Merzouga, where your camel caravan awaits. Experience a magical camel trek over the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi, catching a breathtaking sunset along the way. Upon reaching your desert camp, enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner, accompanied by Berber music and dancing under the star-studded sky. Spend the night in a comfortable desert tent, with the option of upgrading to a luxury camp.

Day 3: Merzouga to Marrakech via Rissani & Ouarzazate

Wake up early to witness a spectacular sunrise over the dunes, followed by breakfast at the camp. You’ll then ride camels back to Merzouga, where your driver awaits. The journey back to Marrakech includes stops at the bustling market town of Rissani, the birthplace of the Alaouite dynasty, and Ouarzazate for a final chance to explore this fascinating region. Arrive in Marrakech in the early evening, concluding your memorable desert adventure.

Your guide will lead you along winding paths through the lush greenery, offering multiple vantage points for breathtaking views. You’ll have the opportunity to descend to the base of the falls, where the cool mist and the sound of cascading water create a serene atmosphere. Along the way, keep an eye out for the playful Barbary monkeys that inhabit the area – they’re often seen foraging in the olive trees and are known for their curious and friendly demeanor.

If you wish, take a refreshing dip in the natural pools, or opt for a traditional boat ride that brings you up close to the falls. Afterward, enjoy a leisurely lunch at one of the local cafes overlooking the falls, where you can savor authentic Moroccan dishes and relax in the tranquil setting. As the day concludes, you’ll leave with a deep appreciation for Morocco’s natural beauty and a collection of memories from this enchanting destination.
